Dublin International Puppet Festival

Date: 12-21st September
Location:
Pavilion Theatre, Lambert Puppet Theatre Monkstown and Local Libraries

Credit crunch? Recession? Negative equity? Why not get away from it all for an hour or two and find your inner child? Ireland’s International Puppet Festival is in its 15th year and is still the only Irish festival dedicated to puppetry – and not just for children!

This year’s festival theme is the “Visual Power of Puppetry” and from September 12th to 21st you can see astounding, mesmerising performances which will have any adult staring wide-eyed in amazement.

The festival programme features eight puppet companies from Europe, USA and South America. A highlight of this year’s line up is American Puppeteer Philip Huber, who will make his first performance in Ireland in Dun Laoghaire’s Pavilion Theatre. This master of marionettes is the puppeteer behind the multi award winning Spike Jonz movie “Being John Malkovich”, which also starred John Cusack and Cameron Diaz.

International Puppet Festival Ireland is delighted to announce our Schools Project: an exciting four-year collaboration with disadvantaged schools in south County Dublin. With the support of the Southside Partnership, this initiative will make performance arts accessible to children who wouldn’t normally come in contact with the arts or artists. The festival is also, as always, providing free performances in local libraries.
